This piece was written for WOOFER, a choir entirely made up of basses originally formed for the London A Cappella Festival in 2013. While much of our repertoire was verging on ridiculous, I’m very fond of this arrangement of two beautiful African-American spirituals. ‘Deep’ is the key word here – you’ll need at least one bass with a bottom B – but it’s otherwise not too tricky!
